How I Became an Acupuncturist

People often ask me what led me to acupuncture.  The most basic answer is divine intervention.

I always knew I wanted to go into some kind of holistic medicine but I could never figure out which form.

Then, I was getting my haircut and my hairdresser started telling me how she heard about this particular philosophy of acupuncture, Five Element Acupuncture.  The way it was explained to me was compelling.   Compelling, yet super-ironic, since I’d dreaded and loathed needles my whole life.

I went home called the person whose name my hairdresser had given me, even though ‘I had nothing wrong’ and that put everything in motion.

On the phone, I had a great connection with Kim, the acupuncturist.   After about six treatments, applied to school and never looked back.

Kim remains one of my strongest mentors to this day.
